COIMBATORE: CB-CID sleuths arrested D Amirtham, former secretary of the CSI diocese and present correspondent of five schools run by the diocese on Monday night.Amirtham was produced before the Judicial Magistrate at his residence, who remanded him in custody till March 22.

Subsequently, Amirtham was sent to the Coimbatore Central Prison.

Acting on the direction of CB-CID DSP Sambasivan, the special team led by Inspector Umapathy picked up Amirtham for interrogation on Monday evening. After grilling him for several hours, they arrested him under five Sections including 120B conspiracy, 468 and 471 for bogus documents, 477 for falsification of accounts and 409 for criminal misconduct.

CB-CID inspector Umapathy told Express that Amirtham has been charged for siphoning off five per cent each from both the employees and employer’s contribution towards provident fund account pertaining to 19 teachers right from 2000 to 2008 and not remitting it at the PF office.
